About The Film

THE FORCE AMONG US

"30 YEARS, 6 MOVIES,
AND A FEW TRIPS AROUND THE WORLD LATER..."

(How it all started)

It all started years ago, this is not something that happened overnight. It all started on my birthday on May 25th, 1977 and grew through out the years.

Sure, Star Wars was "asleep" in my life from 1985 - 1991, but then one night in October 1991 on my way to bed, I found an old copy of the Empire Strikes Back on Beta and from that moment on, my life had changed for the best. The Star Wars rebirth period for me had begun.

I was going through alot at that time in my life, and Star Wars was one of those things that was there to bring me back "before the dark times." Be sure to listen to the interview on swactionnews.com for the indepth converastion with Cristian and Cortney Macht

2005 was not only the year of the last Star Wars film to be released but it was the year I would celebrate with a bang. You only live once, right? I had went to my 3rd celebration and spent some time bonding with the family. I had seen the final Star Wars movie VIP red carpet style in Los Angles and from there I flew out to London, alone, for the Red Carpet event and had finally met George Lucas in person in the lobby of the theater. Then from there I had flown to Tunisia for an on location tour of the sets that still remain.

Then on a cold night in March 2006 at an Irish Pub I was feeling depressed as all things Star Wars were now behind me. It was at this time that I looked at my sister  and asked "What can I possibly do next as a fan?" She looked at me and said WE need to make a documentary, we need to make a TRUE story about the Star Wars fans.

It had originally started as a 10 minute fan film entry for the Atom Films Star Wars contest and was going to be called Confessions of a Star Wars fan. That idea then took on a life of its own and turned into a "monster". A full length, high budget, documentary that took 7 months to shoot and ended out in Finse, Norway.

We are not out to make another Star Wars fan film, we want to make something much more meaningful and important for the Star Wars fans. Something that will educate people and make them think. A film that includes all different types of Star Wars fans and destroys all the stereotypes associated with us. We have spent so much time and money on this hobby and wrapped our lives up in this saga that has been going on for 30 years. The film express that passion. The Force Among Us is a film made by the fans for the fans.

(Beyond the Beginning...)

Written, directed, produced, and funded by their own resources, the brother and sister team of Cristian and Cortney Macht are on a mission to bring "equality" to the Star Wars fans, and to show the rest of the world that the fans are real people like you and me. Not some loser without a job or without a family that is living in the basement of their parents' house.

What makes this documentary so different you ask. Quality, Story, Passion, Truth, Controversy and a trip to Finse Norway are some of the many things that the chemistry of the cast and film crew were able to capture while filming this documentary.

This is a movie that was inspired by all the different genres of fandom that celebrate the creation of the Star Wars saga. The people in costume, the collectors, the deep minded, the extremist, the organizers, the leaders, the old generation, the new generation, the angry and the content, and so on and so on. One of the many things this movie is about is equality in fandom.

There seems to be some egos on who is the better and bigger fan - but the truth is we are all different from each other and its all for one thing: STAR WARS! We all have different stories and different reasons and paths that led us to the passion of this film.

The other element that fuels this story is the stereotypes that are given to the fans.

The movie was created for both the fans AND the people that NEED to be educated about who the fans really are and why they are so passionate about the movies. There are so many stereotypes associated with the Star Wars fans that we wanted to tell it like it really is, the truth, not the way Triumph the Dog, Saturday Night Live, or Bob Eubanks tell the world. Those who point the finger and say bad things about people usually do so as a reflection of themselves.

There is no difference between the people that waited in line for hours for the next big star wars event and the people that celebrated their football team's victory in freezing weather.

This is a true story about the people that helped George Lucas' empire grow to what it has became today - the fans.
